With this blog post, we're starting a new series sharing our favorite tattoo artists with you. Artists who inspire us, whose work we admire, and who make us so excited to share this world with you on clothing, as a wearable canvas.
The first artist we introduce is Pim Verest, also known as Dutch Bandit, (tattoo) artist from Eindhoven .
Raw vintage pop art in tattoo form
Pim's tattoo work moves between black and grey flash and custom designs. His style is a raw mix of traditional tattoo influences, vintage comics, and surrealist elements. He describes it as raw vintage pop art .
His designs feel timeless, yet his content is sharp and contemporary. A recurring element in his work is Mr. Boomer, a figure with a television for a head. According to Pim, this character symbolizes our dependence on media and our alienation from reality, a theme that recurs frequently in his tattoos and illustrations.
From craft to skin
With a background in craftsmanship and a keen eye for form and contrast, Pim translates complex ideas into powerful images that work perfectly on the skin. For him, tattoos are not merely decorative but convey a story. Meant to be seen and to be contemplated.
Besides tattoos, Pim also creates paintings, illustrations, and objects, but everything starts with the same core: pure artistic freedom and an inexhaustible urge to create. A good example of this is his "XXL Collectables," a series of art objects packaged as vintage action figures. He created a custom action figure for Dutch DJ Don Diablo and featured in an exhibition at Salon des Arts in Oisterwijk.
